Awards and Recognition

Show your Guiders and youth members how valuable they are by nominating them for an award! Awards may be applied for at any time of the year and can be presented at any appropriate event. It is not necessary to wait to the end of a Guiding year or term to recognize achievement.

Recognition

The fillable GGC NL Certificate of Appreciation can be presented to Guiders, unit assistants and GGC supporters to show your appreciation. The suggested fields would be recipient name, recipient role, awarding council/unit name, presentation date.

To nominate someone for an award, create or log into the National Awards Portal, complete the nomination form, and include any relevant letters of support.

If submitted through the National Awards Portal, the cost of these awards is covered by GGC. There is no cost to units, districts or areas. The awards packages are prepared and mailed out by provincial office staff. For more information, please see the National Awards Process document.

Provincial Awards 

  • Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Award
    • The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial award is awarded to members for service specifically known to the province and must be ongoing - not for just a one-time task. This award is granted by the Provincial Council. Two letters of recommendation are required.
  • Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Certificate for Dedicated Services
    • The Newfoundland and Labrador Certificate for Dedicated Service may be given in recognition for dedicated service to the Girl Guide organization. This service must be over a period of time and not for one event only. This award is granted by the provincial council. One letter of recommendation is required. 
  • Provincial Trefoil Award Application

Membership Pins

Membership pins are presented annually to youth and adult members recognizing their years of membership in GGC. Pins are available for years one to 15, then in five-year increments (20, 25…). Pins are available from The Girl Guide Store.

50 + years of membership are being recognized by National.
