Volunteer Opportunities

Are you passionate and enthusiastic about Guiding? Do you enjoy challenges? Do you need a little extra in your life? If so, you need us, but we also need you! Right now, there are three Provincial positions vacant; PR/Communication Adviser, Membership Adviser and Website. Are you too busy this year but will have more time next year? Then consider these positions which will open in April; Camping Adviser, International Adviser and Elected Member. These are exciting times in Guiding with the new program rolling out. You could be a significant contributor to “Everything she wants to be”.

Provincial Public Relations & Communications Adviser - vacant now (position description)

This is a great position for anyone who enjoys social media. You will oversee the provincial Facebook page and other social media sources and the provincial website. Coordinate paid advertising for Guiding in the province. Promote special events such as Provincial AGM, conferences and award ceremonies. Support PR opportunities through press releases, reports and photos to media outlets. You will also chair a sub-committee and recruit, orientate and mentor these members. This is a three-year term and you will report to the Provincial Member Services Coordinator.

Provincial Membership Adviser - vacant now (position description)

Are you innovative and energetic? Let’s talk membership. This position oversees a sub-committee and together you develop and implement strategies to grow and retain members both girls and adults. You also inform members of national and provincial awards and encourage members to nominate candidates for these awards. This is a three-year term and you will report to the Provincial Member Services Coordinator.

Looking for all computer geeks. This position does need someone with excellent computer skills but training is also available. You would be overseeing, updating and maintaining the Provincial Website to keep it as current as possible.

Provincial Camping Adviser - vacant in April (position description)

Is camping your “thing”? Do you love the outdoors and all the adventures you can have there? Then why don’t you take a position where you can mentor and influence girls and adults alike. This position oversees a sub-committee and together coordinates the planning for provincially sponsored camps and outdoor adventures. You would also make sure girls and Guiders attending nationally and provincially sponsored camps be fully prepared for these events. You would collaborate with Training to ensure that camping training would be delivered to adults and girls of all ages. This position is a three-year term and you would report to the Provincial Girl Engagement Coordinator.

Provincial International Adviser - vacant in April (position description)

Do you love to travel and would you love to bring that same joy to other adults and girls? Then International Adviser is for you. You have the opportunity to review and evaluate all international ideas and suggestions. You would publicize international and interprovincial opportunities for girl and adult members using newsletters and social media. You would help plan special events for these selected members so they are prepared for travel. This would also give you opportunities to provide support and guidance to groups planning independent trips. Advocation for global awareness and its impact on girls and women is also a part of this position. It is a three-year term and you would report to the Provincial Girl Engagement Coordinator.

Elected Member-Provincial Council - vacant in April (position description)

Do you communicate well and have great listening and interpersonal skills? Then Elected Member is the position for you. You will sit on Provincial Council and attend their meetings as a representative of the members. You will also have the portfolio of strategic plan and properties. As a member of Provincial Council you will work collaboratively with all council members to ensure best management and stewardship of Guiding within the province. This position is a three-year term.

New Brunswick Council is looking for our next PR Adviser. This is a three year term starting in April of this year.

Here is just a highlight of the duties and responsibilities that would come with this position:

  • To prepare and utilize media advisories, press releases and public service announcements (PSA's) to inform the print and electronic media of Provincial Girl Guide events and activities ensuring that the Provincial Communication Adviser is aware of all media exposure and current issues.
  • To ensure that Provincial Committees and subcommittees are assisted with promotional endeavours including membership and the marketing of Girl Guide Products.
